A rare chance to study with the widely acclaimed “teacher of teachers”.
Open to all levels, except complete beginners. Saturday 15 November 10.00 to 12.30 - £30
Freeing the heart in standing poses in Purna Yoga™
Standing postures are done to bring earth energy up the legs and cultivate pelvic energy. Learn how to transmute this energy into a wide, warm heart-expansion, making the standing postures an expression of the higher nature.
Saturday 15 November 2.00 to 5.00 - £35
Hip Openers, Twists and Forward bends in Purna Yoga™
Mobilising and strengthening the hips is critical for a stable pelvis and emotional equanimity. Opening the hips enhances the sitting position, which in turn helps with the stability of the foundation for twists. Twists release the spine, freeing it for forward bends. Aadil will teach his famous six-step hip-opening series leading to seated twists to bring the vital force from the pelvis up towards the heart, and end in forward bends to soothe the nerves and calm the intellect.
Sunday 16 November 10.00 to 1.00 - £35
Our Much-Needed Knees
Many knee problems originate in the hips or the ankles. Purna Yoga™ teaches how to balance the hips and strengthen your ankles to protect your knees. Aadil will teach many neat knee tricks for aligning the knee joint as well as strengthening the knee, while promoting a smooth energy flow through the knees to facilitate healing. One self pranic healing tip will also be taught.
Aadil Palkhivala began observing B.K.S. Iyengar’s classes at the age of 3 and his study of yoga with B.K.S. Iyengar at the age of 7, and was awarded his Advanced Iyengar Yoga Teacher’s Certificate at the age of 22. He holds degrees in law, physics and mathematics and is a licensed naturopath and Ayurvedic health practitioner. Acclaimed as “the teacher of teachers”, Aadil’s teachings have inspired several Life Centre teachers.
Aadil is the founder and co-director of Yoga Centers™ in Bellevue, Washington state and of The Yoga Centers College of Yoga. His all-inclusive style of teaching is named after Sri Aurobindo’s Purna Yoga™ and is based on the premise that, to live in true health, we must care for all aspects of our being: the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual, by integrating the vast aspects of yoga – including asana, pranayama, meditation, applied philosophy, nutrition and lifestyle - into a set of tools to help us find greater health and fulfilment.
