Relax and Renew® - Learning to teach restorative yoga and yoga for anxiety

We work very hard in our lives, and while we may sleep, we rarely take time to rest. Restorative yoga postures help us learn to relax and rest deeply and completely, During deep relaxation, all the organ systems of the body are benefited. A few of the measurable results of relaxation are the reduction of blood pressure and the improvement of immune function, as well as improvement in digestion, fertility, elimination and the reduction of muscle tension and general fatigue.

In this intensive we will learn the art and skill of teaching restorative yoga. All aspects of the subject will be covered, including the physiology of relaxation, the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects, special postures for menstruation, pregnancy and menopause, and how to sequence and teach a restorative yoga class.

Especially at this present time, many people are suffering from anxiety or worry. The final day of this intensive will combine Western theories about anxiety with an introduction to what Ayurveda (the Indian science of medicine) teaches about it. Judith has a talent for translating the ancient philosophy of yoga and how to apply it to modern, everyday life. We will practise asanas and pranayamas that can help with anxiety and worry, with the aim of bringing sweetness, humour and clarity into our lives.

 On completion of this intensive, as well as receiving a Yogacampus certificate of completion, you will have the option to complete a further project which, if completed successfully, will entitle you to certification from Judith as a Relax and Renew® teacher of restorative yoga and to listing (for a small fee) on the http://www.restorativeyogateachers.com/ teachers' directory.

the Life CentreSan Francisco based Judith Hanson Lasater has taught yoga since 1971 and is one of the West's best known and most highly respected teachers. As well as extensive study with B. K. S. Iyengar in India and the United States, Judith has a doctorate in East-West psychology and is a physical therapist. She helped found the California Yoga Teachers Association, Yoga Journal magazine and the Iyengar Institute of San Francisco and is the author of eight books: What We Say Matters, Yogabody, A Year of Living Your Yoga, Yoga Abs, Yoga for Pregnancy, 30 Essential Yoga Poses, Living Your Yoga and Relax and Renew, as well as teaching extensively around the world. In Judith's eyes, the practice of yoga is fundamentally an act of kindness toward oneself. This idea is often forgotten, but not by Judith, whose approach is warm, non-judgmental and responsive to individual differences and needs. .
