Saturday 20th April
4pm - 6pmBook Workshop
Do you want to do headstands, forearm balance but find them scary?
Do you kick up wildly and struggle to find your balance?
Or perhaps you throw yourself at a wall and you want to move away from it?
In Amy’s workshop on Saturday 20th April you will have the time, space and individual attention to work on your headstand or forearm balance and make progress on it.
You will learn how to fall safely so that you’ll know how to save yourself when the inevitable happens, then the right techniques to lift yourself up with control, and find and hold your balance.
You will leave with greater awareness, understanding and confidence to keep practising and improving your skills!
The main focus of the workshop will be headstands and forearm balances (depending on your preference and ability) with optional handstands too, although handstands are very much their own separate skill that are usually taught separately.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
We will do a brief inversion-specific warm up followed by lots of technical and strength building exercises, to give you the best chance of success, then lots of actual practice time.
Note - you will work in pairs, on your own, with a wall and with cushioning. You do NOT need to be able to do a headstand in order to do this workshop (you will be taught how to!), but being able to hold a plank and have tried inversions with a wall is helpful.
You’ll be learning from professional handbalancer Amy Slevin who performs her handbalancing acts in shows around in the UK and abroad. She has 12 years of teaching experience. Her own struggles with inversions, fear and not knowing what she was doing helped her develop her teaching method to help people like you to understand the hows and whys of inversions, overcome their fears, and master the moves.
Like George Adair says, “Everything you ever wanted is on the other side of fear”.
