Book WorkshopOur hearts are truly magnificent. The heart acts as a conductor in the body, while other organs pick up rhythms from it. In this way, all organs are able to integrate into one whole, living system. This influence extends to our external world too - when we feel in rhythm with ourselves, other living beings and our environment, we are calm, focused and centred. When constantly in a hurry, pushing against the clock and trying to catch up with ourselves, our hearts suffer.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the heart is revered as the "Emperor" of the body, the sovereign ruler of all organs and the seat of consciousness. It governs blood and vessels, ensures smooth circulation of Qi and blood, whilst simultaneously housing the Shen (our spirit), which regulates mental clarity, emotional stability, and spiritual vitality.
Summer in general and specifically summer solstice which marks the peak of Yang energy associated with the Heart organ system, is a perfect time to recalibrate our internal rhythm.
Hotter days lend themselves to naturally slowing down and connecting to Earth's slower, more nourishing energy and can help reset the heart's rhythm.
In this workshop we will explore flows, breathing and meditation practices that nourish the heart. Everyone is welcome, no need for prior Qigong experience.
